Black Boy and winter

Black Boy is a confirmed window gazer, especially in the winter. He’s content to spend the greater part of his life watching it snow from the comforts of Justin’s recliner. Sometimes when the wannabe  cats leap onto the window ledge, he puts back his ears and hisses. They blink at him as if his opinions matter little to them.

And maybe, that’s why I enjoy winter. Like the cat, I watch it from the inside. When I need fresh air, the front porch is handy and close. When I need exercise, the shovel is also handy and close. Warm boots and coats and mittens keep my limited excursions comfortable. I’m a true arm chair winter enthusiast.

January is one of my favorite months. New calendars with a whole new year in front of me. New ‘must do’ lists and goals and ideas. When December leaves, it  takes with it all the self improvement goals I made last January. I’m quite sure December takes them because I certainly don’t see any sign of them. Oh well, I’ll just dust the list off and try again this year.

One goal I intend to keep, however, is writing the third and last book in the Goodbye, Belvidere series. I finally started it, and as usual, it would click right along if I didn’t get bogged down in historical detail. The problem is that I find history so interesting that instead of writing a story, I spend hours pouring over an old outdated encyclopedia. Good grief. Self-discipline seems to elude me. Sorry to say, it doesn’t do  any good to add it to my  list. It’s been on there for years and years.

In spite of all that, Black Boy and I and the rest of the ranch want to wish all of you a very happy and blessed 2016! May God find us faithful and true to His will.

Have a good and Godly day!
